Tredegar RFC Awards 2008

Tredegar RFC held their 2007/2008 end of season annual dinner and awards ceremony at the clubhouse a little later in the year than normal.  

Well attended by last seasons squad as well as the youth section, compere Allan Medilcott welcomed players, guests and sponsors that included Ken Hewitt, vice- chairman of the WRU and  Tony Davies from Ryan Transport who are celebrating 60 years of business and nearly 20 years as Tredegar's main sponsor.

Club secretary Tony Lewis paid tribute to the hard work and effort put in by everyone including the superb efforts of the supporters committee and thanked Tredegar Town Mayor, John Morgan for the support of the council. A special presntation was made to Tony Davies in recognition of Ryan Transport celebrating their 60th anniversary.   As Tredegar RFC are now running teams from under 8s right through to the youth section providing rugby for over 250 children each week, the committee of the mini's section were acclaimed for their immense contribution.

Gareth Johnston was named as the new forwards coach for next season and Tony Edwards was thanked for his stirling work last season in delivering  certainly one of the best packs in the whole league. Paul Edwards was named as captain for next season's campaign and thanks were extended to Joe Campbell for his efforts.

Monty Gittings expressed thanks to all concerned and made presentations to various sections.

Lionel Evans presented the youth awards with Gethin Edwards being awarded Clubman of the Year. Richard Davies received Most Promising Player whilst Player of the Year went to Chris Mosley .

 

Ken Hewitt presented the Supporters Club Awards to Steve Knight as most Promising Player with Jack Dawson receiving Clubman of the Year . Stuart Jarman completed an outstanding season rounded off by being awarded Tredegar RFC Supporter's Player of the Year.

The Tredegar RFC award receipients ,were Steve Knight as most Promising  Player, Brett Mountney picked up a well deserved Clubman of the Year title and  Stuart Jarman also collected the Player of the Year award

Director of Coaching Robert Johnston presented the Player's Player of the Year award to Stuart Jarman with the ebullient number 8 picking up the three main awards to put the finishing touch to an outstanding season. 

Tredegar's  2008/2009 capaign kicks off with a home fixture at the recreation ground against Ynysybwl on Saturday on 6th September.
