Despite the best efforts of the Jones boys Tredegar were bundled out of the cup by Rumney in much the same fashion as their last league encounter.
Whilst Tredegar ran up a half time lead thanks to two tries by flanker Christian Jones and his namesake Greg slotting the conversions and scoring a fine solo try himself, the visitors scored twenty one unanswered points in the second period to secure their place in the next round.
Greg Jenkins made his debut for Tredegar and looked a very good prospect until he went off injured and with Rhys Hallet sidelined earlier Tredegar were forced to press gang Greg Jones into the scrum half role with Matt Cummings moving to outside half.
For Tredegar Matt McGovern showed glimpses of his thunderous capabilities but the visitors took advantage of Tredegar's second half slump in form running in tries from Luke Fear, who's second try in the dying minutes was gifted to him intercepting a sloppy pass on the home sides try line.
Gareth Stoppani and Carl Fish got a try apiece and Dan Clark slotted two penalties, three conversions and his initial drop goal was the first one scored on the Recreation Ground for over five years.
Tredegar return to league action on Saturday and welcome the inform league leaders Ebbw Vale to the Rec
