Match Reports 2011/12

Tredegar (7) Beddau (32)

October 15th 2011

Matt McGovern was the bright spark in a Tredegar side that still search for that elusive first win in Division 1.

Although losing to near neighbours Ebbw Vale last week Tredegar are starting to build and gel their squad of players and welcomed Beddau to the recreation ground but although putting up a spirited second half performance couldn't put enough continuity together to face a confident Beddau who were firing on all cylinders.

The visitors racked up a 20 point to nil lead at half time thanks to their sharp support play and being much quicker at the breakdown.

However if Beddau thought the second half was going to be a stroll in the park then Tredegar galvanised and took the game by the scruff of the neck with their forwards dominating  periods of play with Steve Knight and Alan Jenkins leading the way.

Tredegar's powerhouse centre Matt McGovern raced over to touch down beneath the posts and Scott Amber's conversion cut the deficit.

Jamie Henthorne on the flank showed glimpses of his old form and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet whilst the workrate of Ryan Thomas and Cameron Price-Regan was second to none.

Although Tredegar have found it difficult in Division 1 they have the makings of a team that can compete at this level  and with the likes of Mcgovern, Hallett, Amber  and Pullen have exciting backs that will ensure results will come.

Saturday Tredegar are on the road away to Bargoed.
