Caerphilly (30) Tredegar (71)

March 19th 2011

Caerphilly were right cheesed off conceding 11 tries to an on fire Tredegar side brimming with confidence.
With Caerphilly fighting for survival in Division Two, Tredegar showed the previous premier division team no mercy and despite the best efforts of the referee to keep the Cheesemen in contention, Tredegar were unstoppable.

Caerphilly raced off to an eleven point lead only to see the Tredegar forwards put in a master class , dictating matters and releasing their talented back line, time and time again to claim another bonus point win.

Tom Mcpherson's four tries put him firmly in the club's try scoring records whist a hat-trick by Dominic Pullen would have been equalled by Rhys Hallet whose third try was disallowed so the captain was restricted to just a brace on this occasion.

Tom Brown stormed over and was quickly followed by Craig Lloyd and Tredegar registered their highest score of the season. Tredegar's mid-field maestro, Dan Haymond had a great day with the boot slotting eight conversions much to the dismay of Caerphilly.

Whilst Caerphilly face the drop, Tredegar are still firmly in the promotion race and the outcome of the season may be determined away to unbeaten Mountain Ash in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile Saturday sees Tredegar on the road again facing Ynysbwl on their own patch for the first time this season
