Tredegar (18) Fleur De Lys (0)
Nov 20th 2010
Tredegar return to the top of Division 2 East, putting Fleur de Lys to the sword at the recreation ground.
With no rugby for a few weeks due to the autumn internationals Tredegar gave a first start to 19 year old Tom Brown who hails from great rugby stock being the grandson of Ray Prosser and the sixteen stone forward looks set for a bright future in rugby putting in a classy performance on his debut.
Flower fielded former Tredegar captain Leigh Taylor, as well as ex Tredegar players Wayne Simms, Chris Edwards and Jamie Henthorne whilst Tredegar welcomed back flying wingman Daniel Davies whose scorching brace of tries in the first half knocked the stuffing out of the visitors.
With Flower trying to compete the final nail in their coffin was a devasting try from Ron Kynes and with a fifteen point lead at the interval Tredegar were heading for another win.
With Fleur de Lys gaining the upperhand up front in the second half they could not breach the steadfast Tredegar defence which has been first class all seson resulting in another performance where the visitors were unable to score a try.
When the mist descended it was virtually impossible to follow play but when Tredegar were awarded a penalty in front of the posts instead of going for the bonus point try it was left to the boot of Dan Haymond to extend Tredegar's lead by another three points.
With another comfortable win Tredegar head the top of the division and look forward to the next game an away fixture at Rhydefelin on Saturday 4th December
