Match Reports 2008/9
Tredegar (90) v Pontllanfraith (0)
September 27th 2008
Second Division Tredegar overwhelmed Pontllanfraith, running up 90 points without reply in this first round Swalec cup tie.

Scoring 14 tries , Tredegar fielded a much changed line up from their league
campaign so far with Damien Smith, Jessie Farthing & Wayne Simms making
their debuts in a Tredegar shirt.
John Osborne returned to action following injury putting in a man of the match
performance and was well supported in the boilerhouse with the first time
pairing of Wayne Simms and Rchard Clarke

It took Tredegar just 5 minutes to cross the visitors line when burly centre
Ian Marsh crashed over to set the Tredegar try scoring machine in motion.
With a brace of tries apiece from Jamie Henthorne, Damian Smith, Wayne Sims,
Jack Dawson and Robert Smith Tredegar had to much firepower for the visitors
from down the valley.
Jamie Henthorne, Wayne Simms and Chris Orum put in searing bursts of speed
to regularly break the gainline and put the Pontllanfraith defence on the
back foot, whilst Simms all round action display will make him an invaluable
asset during the forthcoming league campaign

Flanker Joe Campbell produced another outstanding effort whilst pacy full
back Robert Smith's immaculate performance capped an excellant team performance.
To their credit Pontllanfraith never gave up but further tries from Robert
James, Ian Evans and Ryan Thomas consigned the visitors to a crushing defeat.
Greg Jones slotted 10 conversions to add another 20 points to his personal
points tally.
Whilst Tredegar enjoyed a jubilant win more consistancy and urgency is needed
in the league campaign but once the team is settled success must be on the
horizon.
Saturday Tredegar entertain Rhydefelin at the Recreation Ground.
