Second Division champions, Tredegar were given a sneak preview of what life in the first division will bring following a rare defeat this season at the hands of Newbridge, who currently lie in second place at the top of Division One.
Tredegar were without star scrum-half Matt Taylor & the irrepresable Jack Dawson & captain Paul Edwards was only able to play the first half due to work commitments and with the cream of the divisions playing against each other both sets of fans enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining eighty minutes.
With Tredegar unable to play their high tempo game out wide, Newbridge showed why they are one of the form teams in Division 1 running in five tries to clinch a final spot against either Blackwood or Nantyglo, their tie yet to be decided.
Tredegar will take great positives out of this cup game and realise that they must up the ante next year playing a more physical game at a higher intensity.
