Ynysybwl v Tredegar Video Highlights

Tredegar RFC grasped the Bwl by the horns scoring 3 tries to gain another away win on the road.
With the sloping pitch favouring Ynysybwl, former Tredegar player Richard Tibbs dictated play kicking to the corners and pinning Tredegar in their own twenty two for long periods of the game.

Against the run of play Tredegar Number 8 Dave Ford crashed over to record the first score of the afternoon with the conversion by Greg Jones seeing the visitors lead by seven point. Wayne Simms 10 minutes in the bin allowed the Bwl to level the scores with a Sean Ireland try, converted by Tibbs getting the home sides only score of the first half.

A Greg Jones penalty nudged Tredegar ahead and when Damien Smith set off in his own 22 Rob Smith was on hand to get the vital try that saw Tredegar lead fifteen points to seven at the interval.

Having the advantage of the slope in the second half Tredegar showed why they are top of the Division when a searing break by Rob Smith from the restart took Tredegar into the opposing twenty two and when the ball reached Daffyd Jones, the centre crossed the line to put Tredegar further ahead. Greg Jones slotted the penalty but Tredegar then immediately fell asleep.

Two penalties by Tibbs and a James Read try put Ynysybwl in touch of a losing bonus point and when Rob Smith was yellow carded they sniffed victory only to be denied by a Greg Jones penalty to see Tredegar gain another 4 league points to further establish their lead at the top of the table.

With two yellow cards again the Tredegar discipline could prove costly in the championship run in and efforts must be made to ensure promotion is not compromised. Next Saturday Tredegar are at home to Mountain ash who could well be pushing for promotion in the final weeks of the season.
