Match Reports 2008/9
Bedlinog (48) Tredegar (0)
April 25th 2009
With the league title sewn up Tredegar under estimated the formidable challange of second placed Bedlinog and by fielding a makeshift team went down forty eight points to nil suffering only their second defeat of the season
With Tredegar missing Jack Dawson , Greg Jones , Dave Ford & record try scorer Damien Smith and several players playing out of position Tredegar never competed at any phase and unusually failed to get on the scoreboard for the first time this season.
The foxes took control of the game and with their small pitch more than contained the visitors, not allowing Tredegar to play their usual expansive game.
With Bedlinog needing a winning bonus point to keep their promotion hopes alive their five tries were unanswered by an underpar performance from the champions.
Perhaps winning the league with four games in hand has had a detrimental effect on the team as Bedlinog were up for and secured a vital victory that could well see them join Tredegar in Division 1 next season.
Tredegar complete their league programme with two games in 4 days away against Gilfach Goch and Rhydyfelin respectively.
