Tredegar (33) v Abergavenny (11)

December 6th 2008

Jamie Henthorne completed the try scoring as Tredegar boosted their Division 2 promotion campaign with a 33-11 win at home against Abergavenny. Henthorne's brace of tries saw Tredegar secure the bonus point victory they required to stay at the top of the league table.

Director of coaching Robert Johnston said " I am delighted with the outcome because we need every bonus point we can get and when you go into a game with that frame of mind things can turn out quite differently than planned. The team put in another workmanlike performance but there is still room for improvement."

Tredegar led 11-3 at the interval following 2 penalties from Greg Jones and Henthorne's scintillating first half touchdown. Steve Lang's penalty saw Abergavenny break their duck but Tredegar overwhelmed  their near neighbours in the second half. Greg Jones fired over another penalty along with 2 conversions and Brendan Sullivan and Daffyd James got a try apiece.

Tredegar sealed the bonus point win with another try from that man Henthorne who could well write his name into the Tredegar record books  before the end of the season. Abergavenny,s Ross Bridling scored a consolation try but Lang's final penalty could not prevent another Tredegar win.

Tredegar keep on the promotrion trail away to Fleur de Llys on Saturday
