Match Reports 2008/9

Mountain Ash (0) Tredegar (28)

October 11th 2008

Tredegar faced a stiff task away at Mountain Ash who proved to be the better side at the corresonding game last season.

This year however has seen Tredegar take a no nonsense approach to their rugby and their second half showings have been more than a match for the opposition  so far this season.   With both sides cancelling themselves out in the first half the Old Firm must have been confident at the turn around but Tredegar's strength and stamina came through seeing the visitors cross the tryline on four occassions and bagging a bonus point to boot.

Former sprint international Jamie Henthorne scored twice and has now settled comfortably into the team and no doubt will be up there amonst the Division's leading try scorers at the end of the campaign. Steve Knight's bustling performance saw him rewarded with a try and prop Brendon Sullivan crashed over to consign Mountain Ash to a home defeat.

Rob James fired over three conversions to see Tredegar put in another strong second half performance and if the sheer effort and tenacity can be harnassed for the full 80 minutes Tredegar can fear no one in Division 2.
