Tredegar (24) Pill Harriers (10)

December 29th 2007

Tredegar’s final game of 2007 saw the men in red secure a vital bonus point in a 4 try drubbing of relegation facing Pill Harriers.

In a high tempo game Tredegar exerted early pressure that enabled Daryl Carter and Daniel Davies to run in for two tries in the space of 4 minutes. With Greg Jones converting both, Tredegar exuded confidence and dominated all phases of play.

Pill took advantage when Tredegar hooker Ryan Williams was yellow carded but the home defence stood firm and once back to full strength, full back Rob Smith crossed seeing Tredegar lead 19 nil at the break.

Pill fought back in the second half scoring two unconverted tries by Young and Hillier but substitute Daniel Morris late touchdown saw Tredegar run out convincing winners 24 points to 10.

With this win closing the first half of the season, director of coaching Robert Johnston has instilled the will to win in the team and traditionally Tredegar now look forward to the second half of the campaign.

On Saturday 5th January, Tredegar are away to bottom of the league Llanishen, meeting them for the first time.
