April 26th, 2008
Languishing at the foot of Division 2 Llanishen made their first ever ever
visit to Tredegar cock a hoop after their mid week victory against the league
leaders Ystrad Rhondda.
Tredegar were determined to help the Cardiff side return to the third division
by scoring another 8 tries piling misery on an unhappy season for a team ill
equipped to perform at this level.
With the Tredegar squad depleted due to the ascence of several players who
were attending Daniel Morris wedding Tredegar scored 6 tries in the first
half with Greg Jones firing over 5 conversions to add 10 points to his personal
tally.
Llanishen were unable to contain the pace of the Tredegar threequarters with
Rob Smith & Jamie Henthorne scoring a brace apiece.
Jack Dawson & Steve Knight had had each crossed demonstrating the authority
of the Tredegar eight & all llanishen could do was gain a solitary 5 points
from the efforsts of Owen Jenkins.
Tredegar's superiority was curtailed in the second half with passive scrums
becoming the order of the day.
James Atwill added another try to his his sucessful first season with Tredegar
whilst the irrepresable Stuart Jarman barged over bagging another try with
the number 8 having one of his best season's this year. On Tuesday night Tredegar
visit Llanishen for the return fixture and complete their league programme
away to Rhydyfelin on Saturday.
