Match Reports 2007/8
Tredegar (12) Fleur De Lys (5)
Sept 13th 2007
Match Report by Lyndon Evans
With an early enforced break in the league calender Tredegar
RFC entertained first division Fleur de Llys in a friendly but dour encounter
at the recreation ground.
Flower drew first blood with Dale Taylor crashing over to see the visitors
lead 5 nil at the interval.
Coach Tony Edwards used the game to run the rule over his squad & took
the positives from combinations playing together for the first time.
Darryl Carter put in a man of the match performance with some deft touches
and having now bulked up since his last spell with Tredegar could well become
a potent force in mid-field.
Scrum half Jamie Parry scurried & harried all night whilst Joe Campbell
cajoled his team into taking the scalp of the Division 1 team.
Paul Southall's try drew both teams level but former Bath centre Barry Chick's
touchdown & Carter's well struck conversion saw Tredegar deservidly run
out winners 12 points to five.
Tony Edwards used all the substitutes available to him and is starting to
fashion a forward unit that will most certainly compete or dominate most team
in Division 2.
On Saturday Tredegar resume league duty away to Ystrad Rhondda who's fall
from the first division will no doubt spur them on at home and on Sat 29th
September Tredegar are away to Dunvant.
