Match Reports 2009/10

Llanharan (32) Tredegar (30)

Oct 17th 2009

Llanharan stole the show pipping Tredegar by two points in the dying minutes. Despite scoring four tries Tredegar were denied a win on the road but still gained two bonus points to keep them well out of the relegation zone.

The home team had much more possession and despite dominating play could not break Tredegar's spirit. The visitors looked the more classy side everytime they threw the ball about and put up a heroic display and were denied a win only through a late try . Tredegar's tries were scored by number eight David Ford, second row Wayne Simms, centre Luke James and a debut try by winger Wes Cunliffe. James slotted a penalty and conversion and Darren Pierce in the unfamiliar position of full back added a further three points.

Most teams who score thirty points in a game usually run out winners and Tredegar were so unlucky in this game. Tredegar will need to be on their full mettle Saturday when they entertain high flying Bargoed at home at the Recreation ground.
